Recognizing the stagnated modern Contraceptive Prevalence Rate and the high unmet need for family planning, Pakistan has made a series of policy and programme interventions at the national and sub-national levels since 2018. Notable achievements are the development of detailed costed action development of detailed costed action plans at the national and provincial levels. Some examples are several progressive policy actions, such as the institutionalization of task sharing and a human rights-based approach and the introduction of a new method to the method mix (DMPA-SC).

 

Pakistan renewed its commitment to expand rights-based family planning at the ICPD25 summit and through the recent FP2030 commitment. The highest level coordination platforms led by the President of Pakistan at the national level and Chief Ministers at the provincial level have been established in 2019 and provided oversight.
